Wise Men from the East, Agha Behzad, Iran, 1958.

World of Christian Art, Edited by Ron O'Grady, Orbis, 2001,
$30, page 45.
One of Iran's well-known painters, Agha Behzad lost his way, violating
Moslem law by drinking alcohol and smoking opium. When even his
best friends deserted him, he lost hope until a neighbor took him
to a Christian gathering. Attracted by the hymns, he began exploring
Christianity. Struggling with feelings of worthlessness and loneliness,
he was eventually rehabilitated from his drug and alcohol addictions.
Starting over, he was encouraged to begin painting again. He used
his talent to paint Christian themes that were used widely in the
church in Iran. "His art portrays Christianity through the
eyes of a new convert."
