March/April 2006
The Retiring General Secretary, Retha McCutchen As Retha McCutchen traveled through Kenya and Uganda in January and early February of this year, she noticed she had a new title: The Retiring General Secretary. At her stops, there was a gracious welcome awaiting and many gifts received. On February 11, the Richmond, Indiana FUM staff prepared a retirement celebration which was also attended by many General Board members. May you enjoy these photos that celebrate the 11 years of dedicated service to FUM that Retha shared with so many others. “Partners of Christ,” the theme for the 2006 Chain of Prayer, is taken from Hebrews 3:14—“For we have become partners of Christ, if only we hold our first confidence to the end.” This year meetings, schools and hospitals of Kenya, Ramallah, Belize, Cuba and Jamaica are joining with North Americans in prayer. Visit our website at www.fum.org to join our chain and offer prayers for Friends United Meeting worldwide and the next local meeting on the chain. Of course, we always welcome prayers for Friends United Meeting, but the last day to be part of this event is June 4, 2006. Join us as we partner with Christ and one another. Tuloi and Uganda Yearly Meetings Welcomed Tuloi Yearly Meeting (Kenya) and Uganda Yearly Meeting were welcomed into full FUM membership, as Retha McCutchen and Brent McKinney traveled through East Africa in January.
