Dear Readers,
In this space for the past seven years, Patricia (Trish) Edwards-Konic,
as editor of this magazine, has written reflections on her spiritual
journey entitled “Valiant for Truth.” November 16 marks the culmination
of Trish’s ministry in this role as she moves onto a different path.
Trish worked for Friends United Meeting in two different periods.
From 1986 to 1988 she served as Adult Curriculum Specialist and
is credited for editing much of the curriculum produced by Friends
United Press during that time. She came on board again in July of
2000 to serve as Quaker Life editor. Since 2006, she has
served both as Quaker Life editor and as manager of Friends
United Press. Please join us in honoring her service to God, her
walk with Christ and her contributions to Friends United Meeting
during these years. We pray that she may continue in His Light and
Love as she answers God’s call to a different way to share them
with others. She will be missed.

The photograph conveys a message of listening and serving as we
picture the carpenter Joseph at work.
From The Message, Matthew 1:20-24: God’s angel spoke . .
. : “Joseph, son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s
pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. . . . She will bring a son to birth,
and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus — ‘God saves’
— because he will save his people from their sins.” Then Joseph
woke up. He did exactly what God’s angel commanded in the dream:
He married Mary. . . . He named the baby Jesus.
