This month, we have three profiles-as you can see on the expanded
contents page. We welcome Jan Hodson to our Bible Study column,
and Rhonda McCutchen as guest "Salt and Light" essayist.
Last Spring, on a careful, randomized basis, we sent a "readers'
survey" to several hundred of you. The replies have helped
us think about the design of Quaker Life. Overwhelmingly, respondents
liked our look (including the still controversial color covers)
and found the text readable. We decided we'd better not change too
much!
There was an exception. We've been unintentionally irritating many
by continuing articles onto back pages. Sorry about that! We've
reorganized to minimize that practice.
Readers are very interested in news specific to Friends. So, we've
moved the news section to the front, with an expandable format.
We will need more room if you respond to our request to send us
news of the interesting things that your members and Meetings are
doing.
Readers also asked us for more devotional content. We're working
on that, at the same time as renewing our commitment to honest discussion
of issues that will affect our future together.
Over the next few months, we'll continue to experiment with these
changes. Let us know what you think. Next month, look for our coverage
of the FUM triennial: we had marvelous times of worship and engaged
one another on some important matters.

P.S. We've discovered-and fixed-a software problem that sometimes
caused us to mail the magazine to old addresses (even when we had
new ones) and not to send it to new subscribers. We apologize for
the inconvenience. If any of you missed issues, please let us know
so we can replace them.
