FUM Contact in Congo Dies

I have traveled twice to Congo which has two Yearly Meetings: Congo Yearly Meeting (Evangelical Friends International) and Eastern Congo Yearly Meeting of Friends (unaffiliated). Friends United Meeting has made efforts with Eastern Congo Yearly Meeting. Mulinda Mulilikwa, who has been instrumental in those efforts, was in charge of Eastern Congo Yearly Meeting. It pains me to report that Mulinda Mulilikwa passed away April 22 of cardiac arrest and pneumonia. Mulilikwa was a happy, trusted and reliable man who held God's house and work above his own. Mulilikwa, a former refugee, assisted Congolese refugees who were relocating due to the war. Rebels had torn down the meetinghouse of Eastern Congo Yearly Meeting of Friends as well as Mulilikwa's house, but Mulilikwa made sure that the meetinghouse was rebuilt before his own house, putting God's house first. Dorothy Selebwa, USFW-Kenya clerk, assisted in obtaining funds to help with burial costs for Mulilikwa. He was buried April 25 thanks to those contributions. We are working now to identify another person whom we shall be in touch with in Congo. Please pray for Friends in Congo.
