Terri Johns
terrij@fum.org
Program Manager

Look up multi-task in the dictionary and you'll find Terri! She plays a vital role at FUM with practical solutions to problems and handles many projects, requests and questions. On any one day Terri might be organizing work teams, Chain of Prayer, FUM Sunday or the VBS program. She may be communicating with field staff or mission sites, creating news for the Web site or overseeing mailings to the meetings of North America. She is often found serving on various ad-hoc committees and engaged in management discussions for projects or field staff. In the coming year she hopes to facilitate the development of a clerking seminar and a youth leaders gathering. Her days are full, but she finds them very rewarding.

I had been a stay-at-home mom, educating my own children for the previous eight years when I felt God was calling me to do something different with my life. I have found great enjoyment in my work. I love to read, be with my four children, go on long walks in the woods and garden (especially flowers).

Africa Ministries Representative

John is an inspiration as he fulfills the call to God's work in East Africa, doing this with joy in his heart. He works with yearly meetings by carrying out leadership workshops and helping meetings facing conflicts. He offers mission advice to superintendents, general secretaries, pastors and other leaders of the Quaker churches in Kenya. He also supports and offers counsel to other mission areas in Uganda, Tanzania and Congo. He spends a great deal of time traveling to visit these meetings, which has allowed FUM to be felt in the Africa meetings. Kaimosi Hospital is part of his current challenges [and obviously, the post-election crisis in Kenya].

I have been a banker for more than 17 years. I had gotten used to the smell of money and how to count money everyday and ensuring that all is safe. I felt called to the ministry of Christ and came up to serve God's people and ensure than none of them is lost but all to be delivered to Christ. I have so far found peace and joy in serving Christ in this ministry. I enjoy my life with my wife Rose who has been very supportive to my transition period. My children, Kevin, Audery and Allan have also been very supportive and are very excited with the new ministry. Our son Kevin is looking forward to joining the college next year and we are very happy and eargerly waiting to see him graduate to another level. Mine is to serve and see to it that Paul's message to the Ephesians in Acts 20: 24 may also be my message to the Quaker churches in Africa. My favorable hymn is " Lord plant my feet on higher ground"
