Friends United Meeting Sunday
"Giving Thanks for Our Blessings"
You are invited to participate in a special event this November. To learn about the opportunities for extending your ministry farther into the world, we hope all local meetings will participate in Friends United Meeting Sunday, 2006. Though we have sometimes held FUM Sunday in the spring, this year we will be having it in November with the theme “Giving Thanks for Our Blessings.” We have many reasons to acknowledge God for His goodness and be thankful for His abundant blessings received and delivered through your partnership in Friends United Meeting.
We encourage you to join others on November 5 to focus on the varied ministries of Friends United Meeting. Or you may select another day that better suits you. Here are some ways you might help your church fellowship learn about the work of FUM:

Request the FUM Sunday packet which
includes:
– FUM Sunday FOCUS bulletin inserts
(PDF)
– “How to Support FUM” brochures
(PDF)—descriptions about the various funds managed by FUM
– “FUM Daily Prayer Guide” brochures
(PDF)—daily prayer topics that support all the FUM ministries
– Sample sermon written
by Interim General Secretary, Sylvia Graves
• Request extra copies of Quaker
Life magazine
• Request copies of the Quaker Hill
Bookstore catalog
• Invite a speaker from Friends United Meeting for Sunday School and/or
Meeting for Worship
• Explore the FUM website, using a computer and projector so everyone
can see
• Have your Sunday School or First Day class write to Field Staff members
• Prepare and serve foods from Kenya, Ramallah, Jamaica or Belize for
a snack or dinner
• Copy/distribute recent
newsletters of the Field Staff (download PDF); or request
copies to be sent to you.
• Request and show the “FUM Story”
in PowerPoint format
• Take a special offering for Friends United Meeting.
When we are better informed, we are more effective with our partnership with each other and with our Friends around the world. So, please consider how your meeting might observe FUM Sunday.
